SPRING/SUMMER 2009
FASHION HOT TIPS

Fashionistas and friends, let us not permit the ruthless credit crunch to dampen our spirit and stifle our shopping mood, hence affecting our “shopping list” tis New Year!!!
SHOP, SPEND and HELP the economy!!!!!!!

Below are the chief essential and statement elements of 2009 spring / summer:

Seen lots in the s/s runway are short day/party/cocktail dresses (get your legs in shape pleeease), micro mini skirts and chic shorts , jacket/pants suit and all sorts of trousers such as cropped harem , pegged pants, skinny and straight cut pyjamas style.

A “must have” for all you girls is a stylish swing style or biker leather jacket (Todd Lynn) to go with your past season dresses and tops- truly an investment!
I love the one piece jacket suit made in a jumpsuit from Stella McCartney that’s so one of a kind!!!For a more feminine style jumpsuit, pick Jill Stuart, Chanel and Chloe.

Here’s to the details:

Don acid rainbow colours for a cheerful and optimistic disposition, summer brights such as  daffodil yellow, tangerine orange, shocking fuchsia, fondant pink, cobalt , vermillion, aubergine & watermelon red (Johnathan Saunders, Lanvin). Mix and match blocks of colours together as seen in Richard Nichol, Alexander Wang and Marni.

For a sexy evening, slip on a nude coloured dress (Ermanno Scervino, Balanciaga), bet you gonna steal the limelight! Or for individuality, pull on the metallic dress (Hussien Chalayan, Burberry Prosum, Versace, Alexandra Mcqueen, Balmain)

It’s not just all white or all black ensemble, designers are creating a combination of both colours in polka dots, graphic patterns and prints and bandaged-strapped (Celine, Thakoon, Rodarte, Givenchy). Even bags are in this 2 tonal shade spotted in Chanel.

Oversized Prints in intricate and geometric shapes, watercolour florals and African Tribal prints in bright shades were seen on the runway (Jonathan Saunder, Junya Watanabe, Just Cavalli).
Draping, cascading and layering of fabrics created in an edgy and deconstructed vibe (Ann Demuelemeester, Anne Valerie Hash).

The ingenious Prada produced a whole new texture of crumpled crinkling fabrics in the collection- feminine and elegant.
I simply love the fringe detailings on the neckline, hemline and having it drape around the body, checkout Jill Sander, Alberta Ferrati. Even Hermes added on in their bag collection (the new shoulder Kelly) as well.

The neckline is still the focus, merely embellished with large wooden beads or huge faux diamond blings or multicolor crystals. Or for long -necked ladies, put on the large sized chandelier earrings to draw attention to neck area.

Last but not least, a pair of bejeweled platform heels encrusted with rhinestone beads, crystals, pailettes and baubles (Lanvin, LV)
